Introduction
Materials de Construcció Galmés is a company established 40 years ago, and dedicated to sell construction materials, being a referent in the Eastern part of Mallorca.

Problem
One of the big issues of the construction materials is the importance of the weight, since this is normally quite big, it is very important to optimize the transport in order to get a cost reduction and achieving the delivery on time to customers. For this reason it was a challenge for the company to be able to manage the orders ready to be collected at the suppliers facilities, knowing the loading location and weight in order to optimize the flat bed transport request.

Alternative analysis
To be effective, the solution had to be integrated with the ERP Cecogest used by the client and take the advantage of the established processes, for this reason an isolated approach of the problem was discarded.

Recommended solution
We created the concepts of transport order and order ready to be transported. This it just meant a classification of the existing orders and did not affect the usual work flow to manage the orders.

Implementation
The first version we implemented showed which orders were ready to be transported and could be linked to a transport order, but in a short period of time we realized that the different articles of one order were not always ready at the same time and it had to be indicated to the article's level if it was ready or not to be transported.

Results
With this new model it can be known at any time if a customer's order has been already assigned to a transport company and which delivery term has, moreover the weight of the materials is controlled to know which gear will be needed.

With this implementation the customer has maximized the optimization of the transport orders, reducing the cost and delivery time, apart from giving a better service to its clients, improving the delivery terms and the quality of this information.
